little pudgy pumpkins

Can’t stop, won’t stop

The weather last week was cool and sunny. Perfect fall weather! I opened all my windows and listened to the birds outside while I crocheted some little pumpkins (source pattern link).

So far I have made eleven (11) little pumpkins.

All of these were made from the general “mini pumpkin” pattern, using different sizes and colors of thread. After the first five or six I started replacing the last sc in each row with a slip stitch. It makes the gathering & closing step easier. I have also been varying the overall stitch count and length/width proportions so that they aren’t identical.

The little baby white pumpkins are the cutest ones in the store. My thread ones will last longer though!

do I have to?

I have been working through a serious case of “don’t wanna” this week. Making little pumpkins is very satisfying and far more enjoyable than reading the national news.

Also, going for little walks, and watching the sparrows squabble outside my window.

Out for a walk on a sunny morning. The sumac leaves aren’t fully red yet; they’re just turning a bright orange. They reminded me of a string of pennants, cheering on the onset of fall.

autumn season

The house sparrows are gorging themselves at my suet feeder. I’m hoping to see more of the tufted titmouses and nuthatches as the weather grows colder.

There’s a pair of blue jays who regularly visit my patio for a handful of peanuts in the shell. They are pretty quick! Even if I miss a day or two, they show right up when I fill the peanut saucer. I really enjoy their brief (and loud) visits.
