crochet in progress
I found this pattern somewhere on Pinterest, scrolling through mostly-Cyrillic crochet patterns. At this stage it reminds me of a round of dancing sea slugs.

doily in progress. see? slugs.
or nudibranchs, if you prefer.
The pattern calls for a 12-point repeat, but the post showed it made with 10 points. I agree with that crocheter — for me it works with 10. I also needed to boost the stitches at the very center from dc to tr to keep it flat.
I’m not sure if the non-English patterns are actually different, or if I just like the novelty. The patterns are diagrammed so the language doesn’t matter too much. Joke’s on me: I figured out that this one actually originated in English. It came from a 90’s era booklet of designs by Patricia Kristofferson (Ravelry link).
I’m using my favorite sewing thread, Gutermann natural cotton, and a 0.4mm Tulip hook.
autumn season
The weather has been perfectly cool. Windows open, HVAC system off. Early this morning it fell below 40°F for the first time in months.
Today I’m taking down the hummingbird feeder and replacing it with a suet block. It’s been a couple of weeks since I last saw a hummingbird visiting, and even that one was a straggler.
